Corporate Partnerships

The breadth of our work at RBLI enables us to build each partnership around an organisation’s specific interests.

The examples below have been crucial to grow our support for vulnerable and disadvantaged veterans. We are proud that many of these activities have won awards from the likes of the Charity Times, Ex-Forces In Business, and the Soldiering On Awards.

Corporate partnerships are all the more important for us because our costs are increasing all the time. The cost of living crisis has increased the cost of heating our emergency accommodation and care homes by 45% this year. Corporate contributions are vital to help us make up this shortfall without cutting back our support.

Helping us build for the future

We’re proud to have worked with corporate partners who have given £1.8 million for our Centenary Village in Kent. This has already helped us create 64 homes for veterans for the next 100 years. Read here about how housebuilder Annington helped us get underway.

Helping us build for the future

We’re proud to have worked with corporate partners who have given £2 million for our Centenary Village in Kent. Support from the likes of Barratt Developments, FM Conway, BAE Systems, and 3i has already helped us create 64 homes for veterans for the next 100 years. Read here about how housebuilder Annington helped us get underway.

Charity Of The Year

Shepherd Neame Breweries raised £35,000 for RBLI when they chose RBLI as their charity. Their fundraising included activities across their pubs as well as fundraising from their senior team. In addition, Shepherd Neame placed orders for pub safety signage and wooden drinks pallets with our social enterprise. Read more about their partnership here.

Multi-Layered Partnerships

High-profile companies 3i, Annington, Barclays, and Barratt Developments have partnered with us for multiple years. They’ve had a huge impact across our organisation.

You can read about how Barratt Developments’ £850k partnership won the award for Corporate National Partnership Champion at the Charity Times Awards here.

HELPING YOUR SOCIAL VALUE PROCUREMENT

Last year RBLI contributed £1.8m in social value back into the UK. There are multiple routes for organisations to gain social value return on investment by working with us. We can help with commercial printing and fulfilment needs and produce commercial signs. Our social enterprises Britain’s Bravest Manufacturing Company and Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Company produce thousands of road and rail signs every week for the likes of National Highways, Network Rail, and BEAR Scotland. You can read here (RBLI Signs Up Panattoni For Its Challenge | RBLI) about how the world’s largest privately owned industrial developer, Pannatonni, recently joined them.

Supporting veteran employment locally and nationally

Firms such as Barclays, Serco, and Morrisons support our Lifeworks employability programme. Their vital contributions help vulnerable veterans who have been held back from the workplace gain access to employment, training and volunteering.

Morrisons recently hosted a Lifeworks course at their branch in Exeter, where there is a large local population of military veterans. You can read more about it here.

Barclays’ multiyear support began in 2021 as part of their global Military and Veterans Outreach to help veterans to find employment, regardless of rank, service or circumstance. Barclays Veterans Employment Transition Support funds military charities helping veterans into employment. We are very grateful for their support.

Helping vulnerable veterans live independent, fulfilling lives

Lloyds Patriotic Fund supported the development of our “STEP IN” welfare and employability programme. This help vulnerable veterans (especially those with health conditions and disabilities) to ready themselves for work, a key step towards becoming fully independent.

Annual Campaigns

We were thrilled to be chosen by the Telegraph for their annual Christmas appeal in 2022, which raised £726,000 for Age UK, Action for Children, Macmillan, and RBLI. Their coverage enabled us to reach a new, wider audience for our nationwide work with vulnerable veterans. You can read their articles here with our patrons General The Lord Dannatt GCB CBE MC DL, Jools Holland OBE DL, and Raj Bisram, and learn about the impact we have had on veterans of Bosnia and the Falklands affected by PTSD and other effects of medical discharge.

RBLI’s membership programme Tommy Club is supported by Leyton Orient Football Club. Tommy Club founding patron Harry Kane MBE chose to put our logo on their shirts, and to support Tommy Club at their games. Read more here.

Our online shop has sold over 40,000 Tommy statues and over 70,000 items of Tommy-branded merchandise. Volunteering

We always need teams of volunteers to help us on our 75-acre military village near Maidstone. Here’s how a group of volunteers from BAE Systems helped brighten up our social enterprise for the hard-working staff in our sign factory.

Events

Our Events and Community team support colleagues at our corporate partners taking part in fundraising activities. Our signature Tommy events work well with corporate groups as well as individual fundraisers. Teams at Jaguar Land Rover, Travis Perkins, and Logistics UK were among thousands of fundraisers taking part in this year’s Great Tommy Sleep Out. Many others take part in events around the year such as the Tommy 10k, our Tommy Tee Off Golf Day, and the Ride with a Veteran cycle ride from Kent to Ypres each summer. You can see our full event listing here. We can also offer places in UK and international half-marathons and marathons via Run for a Charity
