Thank You to Our Volunteers - National Volunteers Week
At RBLI our volunteers are an integral part to all of the work that we undertake, providing excellent support across our range of services and fulfilling all sorts of roles from befriending, grounds maintenance and office support to name but a few. As part of National Volunteers’ Week, RBLI’s Volunteer Manager, Andrew Stickells, has written an open letter to say a big thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers.
“The first week of June in the UK marks National Volunteers’ Week, and it is with this in mind that I would like to say a massive thank you to each and every individual who has so generously given their time over the past year to support RBLI to improve the lives of individuals across the UK.
RBLI’s Volunteering Programme is only just over two years old, and I have had the pleasure of working as part of it for the last year. I have been bowled over by the commitment and enthusiasm of every volunteer within RBLI, and the exceptional support that you all give helps us to provide veterans, their families and the wider community the opportunity to regain their independence, develop their skills and flourish in their chosen field.
Whether volunteering on the RBLI village in Aylesford, Kent, or wider afield in one of our offices across the South East or in a home-based role, you are all bound together by your desire to support others to succeed. With the time that you volunteer you are harnessing this passion to help RBLI provide outstanding support to individuals across the UK and we really couldn’t support as many people as we do without your help. By providing support, together we are able to help our beneficiaries by decreasing social isolation, promoting health and wellbeing activities, and supporting them into sustainable employment and that is just the tip of the iceberg.
In the past year RBLI has gone from strength to strength, providing new state of the art accommodation for veterans, winning national government contracts and we have also had our most successful year ever in manufacturing. As volunteers, and part of the RBLI family, you are an integral part of all this wonderful success, and your contributions are vital. I would like all of you to know that you are part of a collective effort, and between you all you are giving almost 10,000 hours of support every year.
RBLI’s volunteer programme is a key element of how we can integrate fully within the communities that we operate in and I am most grateful for your continued support in being able to do this. I sincerely hope that your volunteering also encourages, supports and give you the opportunities to continue your own personal development.
The programme is still in its early days but is growing fast, and will benefit from many more volunteers. So I seek your help in getting the message out there to like-minded people who you think would benefit the RBLI Team.
Thank you so much for what you have done so far in supporting our beneficiaries through your work with RBLI and I am so proud to work with such a fantastic team of inspirational people."
