Superhero runner raises over £1000 for RBLI
Our congratulations to Matt Hammond from Dartford who completed the Do It For Charity Superhero Run yesterday in London, raising a massive £1,140 for RBLI.
Matt said, "I'm so glad I've done it. It's been so good today and it's given me the running bug! I've had several injuries recently, my heel gives me pain and I was in a moped accident and hurt my foot. My knees weren't great to start with! There were several set backs and I really wasn't sure it would happen. But I'm so glad I stuck at it because everyone has been so generous."
Matt's family said it's all for his 40th birthday. "We are so proud of how determined he's been. We're amazed he kept the running up".
Matt's sister Sarah (pictured) ran with him for encouragement, and his sons says they really do think he's a superhero, even though, on the day, he chose to run as Pie Man!
Matt said "It's all been a lot of fun, but this cause does mean a lot to me. I believe in helping our ex-forces. I'm especially glad I've been able to help a charity that gives direct practical support."
