RBLI holds round table discussion with key sector influencers
Representatives from the Department for Work and Pensions and No.10, and Minister for Veterans Mark Lancaster, gathered in Westminster yesterday for a roundtable discussion about RBLI’s veteran employment support programme LifeWorks.
The representatives joined RBLI’s Chief Executive Steve Sherry, members of RBLI's Senior Management Team, Head of LifeWorks Iain Downie and Head of Health and Wellbeing Sharon Patmore to discuss the current success and potential expansion of the programme which has supported more than 600 members of the Armed Forces community.
An independent evaluation showed that 83% of LifeWorks delegates find employment, training and volunteering within one year, which is especially impressive considering 80% of participants suffer from a physical or mental disability, or health condition.
One objective of the roundtable was to discuss the potential for expanding the programme’s scope of participants to non-veterans suffering with a disability in order to achieve a key aim of RBLI: to reduce the disability employment gap.
