RBLI - An International Charity
Today on the International Day of Charity, we're celebrating those aspects of RBLI which are international. RBLI is a diverse charity, and whilst we support many veterans and disabled people near our head office in Kent, and across the UK, we also provide support to the British Armed Forces Community stationed abroad and work internationally in other ways.
LifeWorks is our flagship employment support programme delivered across the UK that helps veterans to identify and build on existing skills in order to find sustained work. Currently, 83% of participants move into employment, training or volunteering within 12 months, and 80% of those who are supported are living with a disability, health or mental health condition. The programme is also delivered to families of serving personnel via LifeWorks Families, and it is this support which is delivered internationally - we have previosuly supported military spouses and partners based in Germany, Cyprus and even Brunei! This vital support helps families prepare for transition back to the UK job market.
Another area of the charity working internationally is our social enterprise, Britain's Bravest Manufacturing Company, which directly employs over 120 people, more than 70% of whom are either ex-service or disabled. They manufacture a range of products for both the public and private sector including display models for K'NEX. Over the past year, demand has increased and the team know build models which are shipped out to toy shops across the world! Some recent destinations include Australia, Italy and Denmark.
We are proud to be an expanding charity with an ever increasing prescence across the world. For us it just means more people supported, whether that's through direct support, or via employment provided in our factories.
