Anil Gurung to Tackle Mount Everest

Britain's Bravest Manufacturing Company Sign Maker Anil Gurung has started his preparations to climb to Mt Everest Base Camp in Aid of RBLI.

The former Gurkha will take on the challenge this November and will trek for up to 10 days to reach the dizzying height of 18,000 feet.

The 29-year-old is no stranger to challenges. In 2014, Anil won gold for Great Britain in sitting volleyball at Prince Harry's Invictus Games in London., beating the USA 3-0 in the final. Last year he competed again returning from Orlando with a Silver Medal. However Anil, who will return to his native Nepal to take on the climb, said Everest will be another great test of his character.

He added: "It will be a challenge for me physically and mentally. I am trying to build my muscles back up after taking form time out after the Invictus Games - Hopefully I will be doing some trekking in Kent and Wales in preparation, but I need to make sure I am also in the right state of mind."

RBLI's chief Executive Steve Sherry CMG OBE, who served in the army for 38 years, said: "The money raised will go directly to helping veterans and individuals with health conditions and disabilities receive the support they need to find sustained employment and get their lives back on track. We are immensely proud of anil and wish him the very best of luck in his challenge."
