Reflecting on #volunteersweek at RBLI

Now that National Volunteers’ week is over, we thought we would take the time to reflect on what we have been doing this week to celebrate our wonderful volunteers who bring so much to the organisation.

Last Friday we held our Volunteer Cheer here on the village.  This was an opportunity for our volunteers to come together, meet fellow volunteers and RBLI staff and enjoy tea and cakes.  It was our chance to treat them.  Steve Sherry our Chief Executive came along and spent some time with volunteers to learn about how they are finding their volunteering at RBLI.

We held drop in sessions at Base Camp our village community café on Monday morning and Wednesday afternoon, where people could come along and find out about volunteering at RBLI.

RBLI's Director of Finance & Corporate Services Phil Defraine acknowledged the phenomenal support RBLI volunteers provide and introduced our `Back to the Floor’ initiative where he sent two members of his team Collette Kinchin (Head of HR) and Jo Trainor (Senior HR Officer) to spend time with volunteers to learn more about  how they help improve lives every day.

We also featured two of our volunteers Molly McCann who supports our Health and Wellbeing Service through the various social activities set up for our residents and Roger Judge who supports veterans who live in our temporary accommodation Mountbatten Pavilion. Both of these volunteers show incredible dedication to our beneficiaries provide fantastic support week in week out.  We are delighted also that both have personally gained so much from their volunteering experience.

We were thrilled to be able to take the opportunity to celebrate how much our volunteers mean to RBLI.   We are always proud to be able to showcase the fantastic achievements of every one of our volunteers. But our appreciation and support doesn’t stop with the end of National Volunteers’ week.  We will continue to strive towards making the volunteering experience even better and find more exciting and rewarding ways for volunteers to work across our organisation to support us to improve lives.

Could you or someone you know give your time and support to help RBLI improve lives every day?

We have a range of volunteer roles available and are always looking for enthusiastic and passionate people to get involved and volunteer their time.
