Members of our Welfare Services team have many years’ experience in assisting Armed Forces veterans and their dependents with specialised care and support.
Through our thorough understanding and knowledge of housing related matters we are able to assist veterans find suitable, permanent accommodation, either on the Royal British Legion Village or in the wider community.
Mountbatten Pavilion is a 24 bedded supported housing scheme for single Armed Forces veterans or their dependants, located on the Royal British Legion Village. Its focus is on enabling its users to gain confidence and provide training for them to lead independent lives with confidence. All users are provided with accommodation and catering services during their stay, which is normally up to three years.
Prince Philip Lodge, also located on the Royal British Legion Village consists of six, self-contained fully furnished flats which are used as short–stay accommodation for veterans repatriating from abroad. During their stay at Prince Philip Lodge, users are assisted in completely re-building their lives in the UK.
Our Welfare Services team are acknowledged by many Armed Forces charities for their expertise in assisting veterans repatriate from anywhere in the World. The Team have recently lent their expertise to the Department of Communities and Local Government’s repatriation scheme for elderly people from Zimbabwe and to the MOD with their Gurkha Resettlement Project.
Since April 2009 the team has run a Health and Wellbeing Service for the whole ward of Aylesford, reaching around 2,200 households. This Service promotes a range of social contact, welfare and health related activities that promote social inclusion, healthy living and reduce social isolation.
