Manufacturing Operatives - Sawmill
6 month fixed term contracts, based in Aylesford, Kent
Salary £11,876 per annum
37 hours per week
Main Purpose of Job:
To manufacture wood products to a high quality standard to meet Customer specification. To ensure that Manufacturing operations are carried out to the correct standard, maintaining a safe working environment.
Overview of the role & team:
This position is key in our Pallets department, with the main function being to produce sawn timber to the pallets production line and sawn timber sales, in a team that is up to 10 strong. The team is overseen by the Supervisor/Pallets Manager who holds overall responsibility for the performance. The team itself is small and close-knit, with a diverse group of people. You will be a team player, who works closely with the supervisory team to meet the departmental targets.
Key Responsibilities:
People
• Work closely with other team members ensuring a safe working environment is maintained
Operations
• Production of sawn timber to the pallets production line and sawn timber sales
• Keep the work area clean, tidy and free from materials that are not required for the current or next job.
Communications & Reporting
• Liaising with the management team to ensure the timely supply of all materials to meet production deadlines
General Responsibilities
• Construct products by hand or machine to specification ensuring that the correct materials are used.
• To comply with quality Assurance requirements and recording procedures.
Working Environment:
• This role will be based externally in a busy working yard and will require heavy manual and physical labour
• You will need Personal Protection Equipment, such as safety boots and goggles, which will be provided by RBLI
• Working in a factory with dust and noise

Skills and Experience Required:
• Knowledge and understanding of Manufacturing Industries
• Worked in a sawmill previously
• Experience in a timber handling role
