Our RGN’s are fully responsible for leading the shift, performing nursing duties as required and monitoring the care provided by the HCA’s. We are wholly committed to updating our RGN’s clinical knowledge/training.  You must be a Registered General Nurse, with a current PIN number, and at least 1 years experience in a nursing environment. Experience in an elderly care home environment would be beneficial, but not essential. The purpose of this role is to provide and supervise the delivery of high standards of nursing care to residents in accordance with up to date, evidence-based professional practice and company policies.

Key Responsibilites:
- Receive or supervise the reception of new residents, ensuring that all appropriate documentation is completed on time and that the resident is orientated to their surroundings and neighbours.
- Assess the care needed to address the resident’s physical, psychological and social needs and draw up care profile. Continuously evaluate care needs, assessing status of resident e.g. nutrition, continence management, and up-date care profiles regularly. Ensure that care plans and records are evaluated, up-to-date and accurate.
- Plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in accordance with the resident’s needs and within the ‘named nurse’ system. Visit each resident daily to assess their needs. Supervise all nursing activities. Continually seek to improve care delivered to residents.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary shift team, supervising staff in all respects including orientation of new staff, training and development of care staff, organising and co-ordinating their duties, guiding, supporting, monitoring and evaluating staff performance.
- Help residents to understand the ageing process and how it affects their health and lifestyle. Assist residents in adjusting their lifestyle to maximise their comfort, dignity and independence. Promote a non-institutional approach to care.
- Ensure that he/she complies with the UKCC Code of Conduct at all times and that processes are adhered to for the safe ordering, custody, storing and administration of all medication. Accept responsibility for the safety of medication in store and on the trolley during dispensing rounds.
- Proactively seek and utilise opportunities to develop their own professional and clinical skills and knowledge.
- Report any observed change in the condition of a resident, any incidence of diarrhoea or vomiting (staff or resident) or any untoward incident in the Home to the Nurse in Charge/Manager without delay.

Essential Skills:
- First Level Nurse
- Hold a current PIN number
- At least 1 year of Nursing Experience
